The idea behind Table Manners grew out of a wish to show some of the many talented and creative people in Sweden and abroad. Despite the overwhelming amount of interior magazines, shops and fairs we feel that what's on offer is too tendentious. This is why it's so great that Plan ett offered us their 'empty room'! May we present some of the people we've met during our years abroad or found when we've come home to Sweden:
Table Manners will be showing Ribbon Project's Uzu bowls from Japan and ceramics by Sabine Lavigne and Kristine Meyer, recent graduates from the Danish Design School. Pernilla Philip, jewellery designer based in Amsterdam has designed a light especially for Table Manners. Helena Kågebrand, Amsterdam, takes part with her glass hand grenades. Daniel Reynolds, London, is showing his Tower vase in cast porcelain. Kathleen Hills, from design company Multi in London, contributes her Seasoning bowls and the Stitch light which is designed in collaboration with Rose Cobb. Rose is also taking part with the Moth shade, designed for design company 2pm. From Sweden comes individually patterned ceramics by Karin Eriksson, fabric and glass vases by Lotta Kvist, patterned carpets by Anna Nilsson and wall stickers by Karin Persson. London based Swedish designer Hanna Tonek Bonnett is showing flocked ceramic vases. From the UK comes Helen Felcey's ultra thin bone china cups, Mizuyo Yamashita's butterfly dishes and Warbowl by Mosley meets Wilcox.
Table Manners explores and presents objects from a different angle; looks at the patterns that are created when objects are placed together, views contrasting objects or contrasts between form and decoration in an individual object.
Table Manners was initiated and organized by design network FLiT.
